These crochet wine bottle cozy bags make perfect gifts. Not only are you giving someone a good bottle of wine but a handmade, reusable wine bag to dress it up and carry their wine in style. Everyone knows I am a fan of good wine, so it’s no surprise I decided to write a crochet pattern for a wine accessory. Read on below for the free crochet wine bottle cozy bag pattern.
This project can be left as just a wine cozy without handles if you prefer. And you can even add ribbon, burlap or hemp cord or any kind of bow around the top to dress it up further by weaving through the top round of crochet.
An ad-free, downloadable / printable version of this pattern is available in my Etsy Shop….. HERE. If you choose to purchase the paid version, just know that I appreciate your support so much!!
You will need:
- one skein of any color worsted weight yarn you choose (You should end up with leftovers for your yarn stash because this project uses less than a whole skein).
- a 5.0mm (H) hook
- scissors
- darning needle

Notes
I recommend using a stiffer yarn for this project instead of a very soft yarn that has a lot of drape to it. The stiffer yarn just works better for the structuring and support of a bag used to carry bottles.
There is no need to bind off when completing the circular
You will be working from the WS (Wrong side) when crocheting in the round. That means you will be facing the inside of the piece when crocheting instead of the outside. Do not turn your work around after each round. Just continue working the wrong side.

The first bag handle will be continued from the end of the body without cutting and fastening separate yarn. The second handle you will need to add separately as the pattern instructs you to.

So there you have it! You can add ribbon embellishments or beads or whatever you choose if you want to fancy it up a bit. Give it as a neat little handmade gift and make one for yourself to tote your wine around in. Thinking about it makes me want to go tote a bottle of wine outside on this nice day and have mommy relaxation time. But I have hours yet of mom duties and dinner to cook for the family so my relaxation time comes much later.
I hope you liked this simple, quick crochet wine bottle cozy bag pattern and had as much fun making it as you will
